Getting Steamy… the flower facial you need

Flower facial – Revive your skin!

Product Review: Facial Steam – Revive – Cognescenti

The dried flowers through the transparent packaging, caught my eye straight away when I was browsing the beauty shelves.

I was intrigued and had to know more… I use face masks and sheet masks as part of my weekly beauty regime (or when I have a chance to beautify!) … so when I saw ‘facial steam’ printed on the front in large letters, this made me curious. The back of the packaging states the formulated flowers helps to eliminate impurities and balance skin, and I’m sure we could all do with that, am I right?!

With managing the stress of work, constant tiding and cleaning at home, often children, pets, hobbies thrown into the mix, our skin can start to look and feel tired… so a product offering to re-balance sounded like something I needed in my life right now! Especially after the amount of dust caused by our new kitchen and utility install (my poor skin).

So first of all, what’s in the facial steam?

Orange peel:
Orange peel actually contains more vitamin c than in the orange itself, it has antibacterial qualities perfect for treating oil and acne prone skin.

Rose:
Rose is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, it can also reduce redness and help with acne, dermatitis and eczema. Helping to clean out clogged pores and remove oil.

Calendula Flower:
Calendula Flower has antiseptic properties, perfect to help wounds and prevent acne. It’s a natural antioxidant.

This all sounds amazing, so let’s get down to using the product…

To use: Simply add a handful of the product to a bowl of hot water (taking appropriate caution at this step, I’m clumsy so taking extra precaution here’. I found it relaxing to light a little non-scented candle, set up some meditation music, have a soft towel nearby & really prep the area to enjoy the full experience. I tied my hair up, as I have very long thick hair, and also used a  Soap & Glory headband, to keep back any escaping hairs. It states to keep your head a safe distance from the bowl while breathing in deeply, allowing the vapours to hit your skin, I found the best range for me was about 5 – 6 inches, but if I felt my skin becoming too hot I would move away for a few seconds and resume the position. It’s recommended to have a towel over your head as well to trap in the steam; otherwise, you’ll be losing a lot of the amazing scents & treatment. Continue this for around 5 – 10 minutes. After completing the treatment, I patted my skin very gently with a soft towel, I always find patting is less abrasive than a rubbing motion.

VERDICT: I definitely feel like my pores opened up, owing to the hot steam, and feel thoroughly cleansed. This is a fantastic home spa-style treatment, which I thoroughly enjoyed, I would definitely recommend this, and I hope to try more facial steaming products, plus there is zero waste. Especially with the kitchen renovation, and dusting being in the air, I noticed my skin was starting to flare up. Looking almost rashy in areas and bumping, when usually I’m fortunate with my skin having minimal breakouts, but a combination of no oven for a week, and living on sad microwave meals plus dust in the air, left my skin desperate for some revitalisation, and thanks to Facial Steam by Revive I feel like I’m back on track!
